Meet our 2022 Saltire Scholar - Aoife Doyle, University of St Andrews

Our 2022 Saltire Scholar, Aoife Doyle, has joined team RP and has well and truly hit the ground running.

In 2021 we supported two Saltire Scholars (one of which ended up joining us in a permanent position – our Investment Associate, Kienan Bruemmer), and we couldn’t wait to meet the 2022 candidate pool.

Aoife, a third-year Economics and Mathematics student at the University of St Andrews, stood out to us immediately in the interview. Not only due to her skills and attitude, but also her role as Deputy Head of Fund and Co-Head of Investor Relations at the University of St Andrews Investment Society.

Having found out about the Entrepreneurial Scotland programme through a previous scholar at St. Andrews, an editor in Aoife’s first year writing for the St. Andrews Economist, Aoife decided that it was such a unique experience that she just had to apply!

When it came to applying to Raising Partners, out of all the fantastic roles available, Aoife had an existing interest in investment and finance so the role was a perfect fit! Throughout the interview process, Aoife had the pleasure of being interviewed by Kienan, our aforementioned 2021 Saltire Scholar. Aoife said “Kienan spoke extremely highly of his time as an intern at Raising Partners. Being able to learn about his roles and also looking at the resources on Runway, I was interested in just how Raising Partners helped in advancing the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Scotland.”

When discussing with Aoife what she had learned so far, it is clear to see how fascinated and passionate she is about investment and finance, “coming from very little knowledge of the entrepreneurial and VC world, I have honestly learned so much. It is fascinating to see the work that Raising Partners do and I have tried to grasp as much as I can.

It has been such a joy having Aoife as part of the team so far and we are so pleased that she is staying with us throughout the summer. Aoife said “the experience so far has been extremely rewarding. I was lucky enough to attend Raising Partners Live in May and got the chance to meet the whole team in person then. Since then they have all been very welcoming and have made the first few weeks so much fun.”

We are really proud to be a part of the Saltire Programme as we know just how much impact it has. Raising Partners Managing Partner, Helena Murphy said, “As a former Saltire Scholar myself, I’ve experienced first hand the life-changing impact of the programme and it’s a privilege to be able to give back.”
